Composing Child in the world

I wrote this song while watching my two-year-old child scoot around on a wheeled bumblebee.

The back of our house had two sets of folding doors, creating a seamless path between the living room and a roofed deck that extended almost the entire length of the house. I was sitting just inside, observing my child navigate the outside boards.

It was a perfect moment. Beams of sunlight filtered through the leaves of a large leopard tree, catching dust motes as they ricocheted off the wooden floor.

As I watched, I reflected on my own life.

Like many young men, I struggled to establish myself. I wondered what journey awaited my young one. I knew the best gift I could give was calm, happy memories.

Although we move linearly through time, we are surrounded by repeating cycles. Once, I was a baby, and my parents watched me. Now, I am a man with a child of my own who one day might have their own child.

Go gently in life :)
